Bergman is no more

The man whose films offered a pitiless vision of a Godless universe, and yet who found his own movies infinitely depressing has died. Aged 89. Farewell. The Seventh Seal remains a masterpiece. A season of Bergman films shown during the graveyard hours of night-time TV will be perfect for my nocturnal viewing.

Things ....can only get wetter....

singalong now everybody. It's raining again. Raindrops keep falling..I think we have to start thinking positively about the wet stuff or things will be just too depressing for words...who was it that said
"Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby." ?

why would they do that?

burglars. What is it with them? They break in, leave behind tvs, dvds and other electrical items, but pinch all the wine and beer. And cook themselves some spaghetti whilst they are at it. Is this a better class of burglar - a fan perhaps of Jamie Oliver, who fancies a quick carbonara and glass of sauvignon blanc in between filling up the van with their booty. Most most odd. And very very annoying, as insurance companies aren't particularly sympathetic to a claim based on 17 bottles of mid-prized wine and half a packet of spaghetti.

Grasse, Camping, Festivals and Bastille Day

So many things. so little time. Scarlet went camping to learn how to be a circus babe for a week so Gregoire and I flew to Grasse for the day. Soaked up 24 hours of hot gorgeous melting sweltering sun then flew back to a damp Normandy to start working our socks off. Brief fun filled moment around midnight of Friday 13th at local music festival, le Carrefour du Rock, where we bopped and boogied to Superbus (Butterfly, butterfly, butterfly...ah ah ah), then we picked our way over bodies of drunken wiped-out youth and attacked weekend of 14th July. Tres busy. Tres knackered afterwards. Now open every day until September. Hear the deep intake of breath and note slight tone of panic.
